Result: 21 Dec - Minchenden 5 - 0 Young Guns

Raelly good result and especially pleasing keeping a clean sheet. Both keepers made great saves to maintain the clean sheet and our defenders looked strong. 5 good goals started with a contender for goal of the season when Ben turned and cracked a lob from wide out on the left that beat the keeper.

Well done everyone and have a happy Christmas.

See you in 2009 when training starts on the 6th.

Result: 23rd Nov - Minchenden 0 - Chase Side 2

Despite the weather and the final score an excellent game of football.

We started strongly straight from kick-off with plenty of good football in their half. We were also particulatly strong defensively with all players doing their bit. We had a couple of lucky breaks when a Chase Side attempt got mis-kicked, hit the post or went wide and I was starting to think it might be our match. I think we had the better of the first half, holding them to nil-nil.

The second half they came on a bit stronger and maybe we started to tire a little. We still had our chances but failed to capitalise on them; they had theirs, and unfortunately did. The first goal being a goal mouth scramble where we just failed to clear the ball; the second, again from close play around our goal - everyone was tending to follow or chase the ball rather than looking around, keeping spread out and in position, and making sure all their players are marked.

Anyway, a good game from us and nobody should be disappointed in the performance of the team ... play like that in future and we will get back to winning ways.

Man of the match was Oliver, his first match for the team. An excellent performance at the back; good tackling, good strong clearances -- keep it up.

Result: 9th Nov - Boundary Pk 4 - 3 Minchenden

I was delighted with the performance and effort put in today, especially after such a battering last week. Boundary Park are a strong team but we matched them when competing for the ball. Fantastic performance again by Ben and our man of the match - Liam.

If we can score 3 goals we should not really be losing the games. We need a little more concentration at the back and the whole team need to continue to get behind the ball when we lose possession and don't let the opposition have any time on the ball. Our aim this season is to reduce the number of goals conceded. We have a tough game at home to Brimsdown next week and after today, i'm convinced we can win if we put in the same effort but concentrate a little more on keeping a clean sheet.

Fixture: 19th Oct Minchenden v Norseman

Home game- meet at 9:30am

Result : Winchmore Hill 6 - 2 Minchenden

A disasterous start for us letting the opposition walk straight through our defence and coceding a goal in the first few seconds. Although we equalised quickly, the speed of their defence was too much for us and they looked like scoring on many occasions. That said, we looked equally threatening in attack but we went in 4-2 down at half time. We had plenty of opportunities to score in the 2nd half but could not put the ball away. Winchmore Hill continued to get through and around our defence and it ended 6-2.
We need to do what we did in our match against Potters Bar and defend from the front.

Man of the match Tom Rottier

Sunday, 5 October 2008

Result: Broomfield 8 Minchenden 7

Got off to a shaky start, being 3-0 down in 15 minutes and 6-3 down at half time. We fought back with plenty of effort and attacking play in the second half but not quite enough. We were unlucky with some ref decisions but lets not blame that.

Both their second half goals came from breaking attacks when we lost the ball in their half, so we need to concentrate on getting back more quickly to defend when we do loose the ball (everyone needs to get back, not just defenders). Also better communication between defenders, including Djan in goal, over who is doing what.

Goal scorers for us were Sam H, Tom R, Terry, Rob B (2), Sam R (excellently taken free kick) and Mark.

Man of the match, Rob B, for his first two goals in the team aswell as good, solid play on the right side in defence and midfield.

Another sound defensive performance and 4 good goals from 4 different players. One thing we need to work on is holding on to the ball in midfield and passing to feet. Bedros had one of his best games today and won man of the match. He also scored a goal.

Sunday, 21 September 2008

Result: Minchenden 2 Potters Bar 1

Fantastic match and a well deserved victory.

An unfortunate start with an own goal against the run of the play, but soon made up for when Ben got his second to make it 1-1. Good defensive team play with everyone getting back as soon as we loose possession, in order to regain the ball and mount an attack. This led to an excellent shot from Terry to make it 2-1 in second half, they came back strongly but we held on and got back in control and could have made it 3-1 when a short pass from Robert to Tom was ruled off-side. Plenty of superb saves from Djan kept them from scoring.

With excellent defending at left back, particularly with his head getting to the ball first, man of the match was Tim.

Well played everyone.

Fixture: 21st Sept - Minchenden v Potters Bar

Home game. Meet at 9:30

Result: Minchenden 3 Boundary Park 1

Really good game with solid performances from everyone. Great to see the return of Sam and Dylan from illness giving us a full squad. The team's main aim this week was to tackle back and get behind the ball when the opposition won the ball. I'm pleased to see that the whole team did exactly as asked and in particular, Tom Jacob stuck to the task well and deserved man of the match. The solid defence meant we could break away confidently and Sam and Tom were able to stick away three great goals. Djan mande a great penalty save and an even better save from a high, long-range effort. Well done. Adam
